I sit here getting ready for the show tonight…prepping music, checking props off the list, last minute little details and more importantly, calming the butterflies of my nervous students! The day of the last showcase filled my phone with text messages and emails from my nervous performers. The day of a show is ALWAYS nerve wracking for any performer but I have to give credit where credit is due—It’s even MORE nerve wracking for this group of women who do not do this as a living and do it (for now) as a creative outlet. For most of them this is only their second time on stage. For some, the very first time. It takes A LOT to get out there and strut your stuff for a room full of strangers. If you had told me that this time last year, we’d be putting on our second showcase, I probably would have shrugged my shoulders and gave you a big fat “maybe.” These ladies have worked so hard on their character, their costumes, and their choreography. I invite you to come see the magic happen tonight and support these fine young women.
