Voodoo Blur

Oct 28, 2009

Is it already the end of October?? WTF? I posted on my Facebook yesterday that I vow to enjoy October next year and not just wave at it as it whizzes by…I can’t complain too much though. The reason it has whizzed by so quickly is because I have been working my butt off. Between Fleur de Tease gigs, solo stuff, classes, and everything else I do in between, the time has really gotten away from me.

I love Halloween. It’s my Christmas. I love the weather, the decorations, dressing up (not that I need an excuse to dress up)..there’s something about this one particular holiday that I think bring us all together. Especially in the performance community. I think I speak for many when I say that we all look at each other as family. There’s always a sense of comradery around this time of year among us. We’re going on our 3rd year of performing at Voodoo Fest…it’s pretty incredible. There is certainly a magic on stage as each act takes the stage but the real magic happens behind the scenes…it’s pretty awesome to be getting ready to the sounds of Noisician warming up. And to hear Clint singing as he walks by all the tents. And to have to step over Sarah the Bobcat or Raven as they stretch. And catching the eye of your fellow performers while they are on stage and cheering them on. And seeing Robin crouched down taking some bad ass photos of it all from the side of the stage.

The last 2 years of Voodoo are laden with fond memories. I feel very, very lucky to be able to share the stage with 4 of the most talented girls I know. The energy of the crowd is overwhelming. Seeing all your friends on the side of the stage supporting you is like none other.

Bigger and better…on to year number 3….
