Burlesque 101 is quickly approaching it’s 2 year anniversary and I am proud and honored to say that each week it gets better and better. New students are always welcome. It’s an open class and there is no registration required and I do not teach the class in sessions. I do this for 2 reasons:
1) Life happens. I have children. Kids get sick. Jobs sometimes make you stay late at work. Your car breaks down. Things just happen sometimes where you can’t get to class. And that’s ok!! These classes are designed to be flexible so that you can come on your schedule.
2)Some weeks are better than others in terms of finances especially with the economy the way it is. If you have to sit out for a bit to catch up, you are always welcome to come back when it’s convenient for you.
I get a lot of inquiries about attire. Wear what makes you feel comfy! I have many student who dress up for the occasion complete with bra and panties and garter belts. I have others that are more comfortable in yoga pants and a tank top. Whatever works for you! Just make sure you bring a small pair of heels. Don’t make the mistake of wearing big 6 inch heels—you’ll fall over. Most people would so don’t feel silly. Just a 2 or 3 inch heel is perfect.
Class is held every Thursday from 7:15pm-8:15pm at Crescent Lotus Dance Studio. The cost is $10 per person which can be paid in cash or check at the end of class.
Every 10-12 weeks we put together a Student Showcase which gives everyone who wants to participate the opportunity to get on stage and show off what they learned! It’s a ton of fun and it’s addictive!!! Usually after a student’s first show, she typically CAN’T WAIT to get back on stage again. It’s a great opportunity to let your creativity flow and show off what an incredible performer you are! The showcase is held at the Allways Lounge in the Marigny and has been our home since the beginning. Dressing area is provided and some group costume pieces are provided as well. Solo costumes are up to you, the performer.
